CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS WITH BASE YEAR 2010=100 FOR RURAL, URBAN & COMBINED FOR THE QUARTER APRIL-JUNE 2020

The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland is releasing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Rural, Urban & Combined with Base year 2010=100 for the Quarter April-June 2020. In addition to CPI for Rural, Urban & Combined the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for Rural, Urban and Combined are also being estimated and released for the same Quarter. All Nagaland Inflation rates (on point to point basis i.e. current Quarter over the 1st Quarter of 2020) and monthly changes based on General Indices and Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) are also provided.

The State General (all-Groups), Group and Sub-Group level for CPI & CFPI numbers for the 2nd  Quarter 2020 for Rural, Urban and Combined are given in Annexure I. The General Indices for the 2nd Quarter for Rural, Urban & Combined are 139.12,136.96 & 136.95 respectively. The CFPI for Rural, Urban & Combined are 140.03, 143.97 & 140.98 respectively.

The monthly changes in the General Indices shows that in the rural areas, the CPI (General) has slightly increased by 2% during the period April-May and further increased by 0.7% during May-June. In the urban areas, the index has decreased by -0.4% during the period April-May ,whereas, it has  increased by 0.7% during May-June. In the Combined sector (Rural and Urban) the index has increased by 1% during April-May and further increased by 0.7% during the period May-June. The CFPI for rural areas has increased by 3% during the period April-May and further increased by 0.6% during the period May-June. In the urban areas the CFPI has decreased by -0.3% during April-May but the index has increased by 1% during May-June. The CFPIs for combined sector have increased by 2% & 0.9% during the period April- May and May-June respectively.

The 2nd quarter inflation rates base on CPIs (General) for Rural, Urban and Combined have shown an increasing rate of 5%, 3% & 4% respectively over the 1st quarter 2020. Similarly, the CFPIs for Rural, Urban and Combined have increased by 7%, 5% & 6% respectively over the 1st quarter 2020.

CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS WITH BASE YEAR 2010=100 FOR RURAL, URBAN & COMBINED FOR THE QUARTER JANUARY – MARCH 2020

The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland is releasing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Rural, Urban & Combined with Base year 2010=100 for the Quarter January-March 2020. In addition to CPI for Rural, Urban & Combined, the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for Rural, Urban and Combined are also being estimated and released for the same Quarter. All Nagaland Inflation rates and monthly changes based on General Indices and Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) are also provided.

The State General (all-Groups), Group and Sub-Group level for CPI & CFPI numbers for the 1st  Quarter 2020 for Rural, Urban and Combined are given in Annexure I. The General Indices for the 1st Quarter for Rural, Urban & Combined are 131.51, 132.58 & 130.68 respectively. The CFPI for Rural, Urban & Combined are 130.79, 135.95 & 132.39 respectively.

The monthly changes in the General Indices shows that in rural areas, the CPI (General) has slightly decreased by -0.4% during the period January-February, whereas during the period February – March it has increased by 2%. Similarly, in urban areas the CPI (General) has slightly decreased by -0.04% during the period January- February. On the other hand the index has increased by 3% during February- March. For Combined sector (Rural and Urban) the index has decreased by -0.4% during the period January-February, whereas, the index has increased by 3% during February-March. The CFPI for rural areas has decreased by -0.5% during January-February but increased by 2% during February-March. Similarly, in urban areas the CFPI has decreased by -0.2% during January-February, whereas, during February-March the index has increased by 5%. The CFPI for combined sector has decreased by -0.4% during the period January- February which has increased by 3% during February-March.

                                                             5-DAY TRAINING ON SOCIAL STATISTICS

                            The Directorate of Economics & Statistics launched a five day training on social statistics including vital statistics at DES conference hall on 6th September 2021. Inaugurating the training programme, Economics and Statistics (E&S) department, additional director and HOD, Neidilhou Angami said the training programme on social statistics was one important subject of the department as it covered most activities of the department including statistics on population, gender health, disaster, employment, income and investment etc.

In this regard, Neidilhou urged the trainees to take the session seriously and grab the opportunity to update their knowledge and skill.

To enhance human resource capability of the department, Neidilhou said the department had a training division to train statistics officers on various topics and innovative programme were being initiated to improve credibility of the department in providing reliable and accurate statistics for proper policy intervention.

Asserting that E&S department was nodal department of statistics in the state, he stressed on the need to work cohesively to deliver goods and execute the responsibility in an effective manner.
