CONSUMER PRICE INDEX NUMBERS WITH BASE YEAR 2010=100 FOR RURAL, URBAN & COMBINED FOR THE QUARTER JANUARY – MARCH 2020

The Directorate of Economics & Statistics, Nagaland is releasing the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for Rural, Urban & Combined with Base year 2010=100 for the Quarter January-March 2020. In addition to CPI for Rural, Urban & Combined, the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for Rural, Urban and Combined are also being estimated and released for the same Quarter. All Nagaland Inflation rates and monthly changes based on General Indices and Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) are also provided.

The State General (all-Groups), Group and Sub-Group level for CPI & CFPI numbers for the 1^st  Quarter 2020 for Rural, Urban and Combined are given in Annexure I. The General Indices for the 1^st Quarter for Rural, Urban & Combined are 131.51, 132.58 & 130.68 respectively. The CFPI for Rural, Urban & Combined are 130.79, 135.95 & 132.39 respectively.

The monthly changes in the General Indices shows that in rural areas, the CPI (General) has slightly decreased by -0.4% during the period January-February, whereas during the period February – March it has increased by 2%. Similarly, in urban areas the CPI (General) has slightly decreased by -0.04% during the period January- February. On the other hand the index has increased by 3% during February- March. For Combined sector (Rural and Urban) the index has decreased by -0.4% during the period January-February, whereas, the index has increased by 3% during February-March. The CFPI for rural areas has decreased by -0.5% during January-February but increased by 2% during February-March. Similarly, in urban areas the CFPI has decreased by -0.2% during January-February, whereas, during February-March the index has increased by 5%. The CFPI for combined sector has decreased by -0.4% during the period January- February which has increased by 3% during February-March.
